ABSTRACT
Seed coating is a technique of seed encapsulation with organic, inorganic nutrients, water absorbents and pesticides. In field various insects attack and cause the damage, among them sucking pests are important. Among different seed coating treatments, seeds coated with imidacloprid@ 7.5g/kg of seed + thiram @ 1.5 g/kg seeds recorded significantly higher plant stand(72%), plant height (57cm), number of monopodials(2.12), number of sympodials(14), lowest incidence of leaf hopper(2.96), white flies(2.28), aphids(2.18),thrips(1.96) and disease severity(1.98%) after three months of storage. The presnt study indicated that, the imidacloprid treated seed can be stored for three months, with persistence upto 45 days without loss of bioefficacy against these early sucking pests. By this it is indicated that seeds treated with imidacloprid is effective against early sucking pest stored upto three months.
