M.D. ANANDA KUMAR and ANN SANDHYA MICHAEL. 2011. Effect of ‘Serifeed’ a feed supplement on the commercial traits of silkworm, Bombyx mori L. Green Farming Vol. 2 (5) : 609-611  (September-October, 2011) (New Series)

ABSTRACT
The larvae were fed with 'Serifeed' (1g/sq.ft) along with mulberry leaves in 4th and 5th instar and produced good quality cocoons in all treated sets. Significant increase in cocoon parameters was observed in the batch of one dust in four feeds of the day (T1). Feed supplement 'Serifeed' likely facilitated the silk protein synthesis in silk gland cells and there by improved the silk content of the cocoon shell. The 'Serifeed' - a feed supplement comprising beneficial fortifications, which effects the cocoon production in silkworms, has greater application in commercial sericulture.
Key words :
Bombyx mori, cocoon, ingredients silkworm, Serifeed, supplement.
