ABSTRACT
Effect of five male gametocides viz., GA3, ethrel, maleic hydrazide (MH), salicylic acid (SA) and a synthetic detergent on the growth attributes of soybean was studied. Significant differences in plant height and number of branches were noticed upon application of gametocides. The height of soybean plants increased in proportionate with the concentrations and frequency of GA3 applications. Where as there was a proportionate reduction of height in ethrel, MH and SA treatments. Maximum number of branches was recorded by MH & GA3 treatments. The growth parameters of synthetic detergent treated plants are similar to that of control plants.
