ABSTRACT
An experiment was carried out during kharif and rabi seasons of 2014 -15 at College of Horticulture, Udyangiri, Bagalkot to study the effect of time of pruning on growth and yield parameters of guava cv. Sardar under different planting densities. The data revealed the maximum trunk girth( 32.16 cm), number of primary branches (3.75), girth of the secondary branches (29.61 mm) was recorded in wider spacing in M6. Similarly the E-W canopy spread (2.25 m) and N-S canopy spread (2.21m), maximum shoot length(22cm) and shoot girth (5.5mm), minimum number of days ( 116.25) taken for fruit set to maturity and in yield parameters maximum fruit weight (124.47 g) , fruit diameter (9.75 cm) and yield per plant(4.65 kg/plant) was recorded in wider spacing in M6 (6x6 m) during rainy season and similar observations are recorded in winter season also. But yield per hectare was ( 16.41 t/ha) maximum in closer spacing M1(2x2m).while pruning time and its interaction with spacing did not vary significantly with respect to all these parameters.
