ABSTRACT
A field experiment was conducted at the College of Agriculture, Gwalior (M.P.) during two kharif seasons of 2011 and 2012 to study on the effect of varieties and nutrients management on growth analysis parameters and uptake of nutrients of clusterbean. The LAI, LAR, LAD, NAR, CGR, RGR and AGR increased up to 90 DAS and then decreased due to senescence and aging of leaves. The varieties and fertility levels exerted significant impact upon these parameters at every stage of observation. Amongst the varieties, HG 563 and amongst the fertility levels, 100% RDF (N20P40K20) recorded almost significantly higher growth analysis parameters at most of the stages. The second best variety was RGC 1038, and the second best fertility level was 75% RDF + Vermi-compost (VC) to augment these parameters. The lowest parameters were recorded in case of RGC 1017 variety, and N0P0K0 fertility level at all the stages. Amongst the varieties, HG 563 recorded significantly higher uptake of nutrients. The maximum N, P and K uptake per plant was 5.15, 0.32 and 2.20 g and uptake per hectare was 322.59 kg N, 20.06 kg P and 138.22 kg K/ha. This was equally followed by RGC 1038 and RGC 1055. The lowest nutrient uptake was observed in case of RGC 1017 variety. Amongst the fertility treatments, 75% RDF + VC enhanced the N, P and K uptake i.e. 314.93, 20.43 and 137.39 kg/ha, respectively. This uptake was higher to that of 100% RDF alone. Both these treatments were found significantly superior to 50% RDF + VC and the control treatments. The treatment interactions were found to be non-significant with respect to uptake of nutrients per plant or per hectare.
