ABSTRACT
An investigation on the effect of zinc ferti-fortification on yield and economics of Basmati rice (Oryza sativa L.) under subtropical region of Jammu. The results indicate that the yield attributes and yield of rice was significantly influenced by different zinc fortification treatments, the yield attributes viz. number of panicles/m2, total number of grains/panicle, number of filled grains/panicle, grain yield (t/ha), straw yield (t/ha) and biological yield (t/ha) was recorded significantly higher with the application of 4% Zn through ZnSO4.7H2O coated urea + 0.2% Zn foliar spray (ZnSO4.7H2O) + recommended P2O5 and K2O. Highest net returns of 62742 ?/ha and B:C ratio (2.19) were also obtained with the same treatment. Henceforth, on the basis of this study, it can be concluded that the application of 4% Zn through ZnSO4.7H2O coated urea + 0.2% Zn foliar spray (ZnSO4.7H2O) + recommended P2O5 and K2O owing to improved yield attributes and yield of rice as compare to control besides proving itself economically viable.
