ABSTRACT
The objective of this study was to compare the leaching, transformation, redistribution and availability of Zn from different fertilizer sources viz. Zn-DTPA (Zinc chelated with di-ethylene tri-amine penta-acitic acid), Zn-EDTA (Zinc chelated with ethylene di-amine tetra-acetic acid), Zn-CH (Zinc chelated with a mixture of DTPA & EDTA), and ZnSO4.7H2O (Zinc sulphate hepta hydrate) applied at various zinc levels (5, 10 and 20 mg kg-1) to Inceptisols in column study. The results of the column study showed that addition of chelated zinc greatly increased the mobility of Zn through the column as compared to the zinc sulphate hepta hydrate source, however, no leaching was found in control and zinc applied as Zn-DTPA was leached from the column to the extent of 19.34 per cent. The fractions of zinc in soil column were significantly increased with increased levels of zinc and also significantly affected by different fertilizer sources. The downward migration of zinc fractions in soil column was significantly affected by zinc sources and their levels.
