ABSTRACT
A field experiment was conducted during the zaid season of 2018 at Agronomy Research Farm of Dolphin (PG) College of Science and Agriculture, Chunni Kalan Fatehgarh Sahib (Affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala) Punjab to investigate the effect of weed management strategies on yield of greengram (Vigna radiata L.) and weed dynamics. The experiment was conduct in Randomized block design with six treatments and four replications. Treatments constituted viz., Imazethapyr @ 50 g/ha (20 DAS), Pendimethalin @ 1.0 kg/ha at pre-emergance (PRE), Pendimethalin @ 1.0 kg/ha + Imazethapyr @ 50 g/ha (PRE), Pendimethalin @ 1.0 kg/ha (PRE) fb Imazethapyr @ 50 g/ha (20 DAS), Weed free and weedy check treatment. Among different herbicide treatments, the result revealed that by the application of Pendimethalin @ 1.0 kg/ha (PRE) fb imazethapyr @ 50 g/ha (20 DAS) was found to be effective for weed controlling as well as in improving grain yield of greengram and net returns whereas single application of Imazethapyr @ 50 g/ha (20 DAS) did not control weeds effectively. Weed free treatment gave higher grain yield (1364 kg/ha) than the other treatments. Weedy check treatment had negative effect on different observation such as growth, yield, weed observations as well as economic content as compared to weed free treatment as well as other herbicide treatments.
