ABSTRACT
A research project was undertaken with the main objective to develop an electronic metering mechanism for Jyoti multicrop planter for sowing groundnut at MPKV, Rahuri. To achieve this objective a prototype of the planter, consisting of main frame, fertilizer metering, electronic seed metering and power transmission unit, was developed. The prototype was tested for its performance. The test results indicated an average effective field capacity of 0.172 hectare per hour at an average forward speed of 2.90 km per hour. The field efficiency was 66.05 per cent. The functional trial of the developed planter indicated that it does the intended functions satisfactorily. There is a need of modification in the solenoid switches, seed hopper and seed agitator mechanism for better working of precision planter. The hopper seed hole adjustment mechanism should be provided so that this planter can be used for other crops also.
