ABSTRACT
In order to study the response of soaking time and seed treatment chemicals to enhance seed germination and seedling vigour a field trial was conducted at nursery of Department of Horticulture during the year 2019-2020. In this investigation 22 treatment combinations were carried out in which two soaking time viz., 12 hours and 24 hours and 11 different seed treatment chemicals viz., NAA 25mg/l, NAA 50mg/l, NAA 75mg/l, NAA 100mg/l, Thiourea-1%, Thiourea-2%, GA3 25mg/l, GA3 50mg/l, GA3 75mg/l, GA3 100mg/l and control (without chemical) were studied in Factorial Randomised Block Design replicated thrice. The results of present study revealed that the jack fruit seeds soaked for 24 hours soaking time treatment (A2) recorded minimum number of days required for germination and maximum germination percentage, length of shoot, dry weight of shoot , vigour index-I, vigour index-II, and survival percentage. As compared to the different seed treatment chemicals, jackfruit seeds treated with NAA 100mg/l (B4) was found to be the best for germination parameters while germination percentage and survival percentage was maximum with GA3 100mg/l (B11).
