ABSTRACT
The study was carried out during kharif and rabi seasons in the farmers' fields of West Godavari district during 2015-16 to 2017-18. All 240 front line demonstrations in 96 ha area were conducted with the objective of demonstrating the improved production technologies of pulses in different villages. The improved technologies consists of use of improved variety, seed treatment with rhizobium and PSB culture, balanced fertilizer application, weed management and integrated pest and disease management. The results revealed that the demonstrated technology recorded an average yield of 17.05 q/ha which was 16.42 % higher than the yield obtained with average farmers' practice (14.25 q/ha).Higher average net income of ` 611496 `/ha with an average benefit:cost ratio of 3.8 was obtained with improved technologies in comparison to farmers' practice (` 41619 /ha).The study exhibited mean extension gap of 4.8 q/ha, technology gap of 4.8 q/ha with mean technology index of 19.29 per cent. The frontline demonstrations conducted on blackgram at the farmers' field revealed that the adoption of improved technologies significantly increased the yield as well as yield attributing traits of crop and also the net returns to the farmers.
