The experiment was laid out with 8 varieties of watermelon (Citrullus lanatus Thunb Mansf) to evaluate superior variety under field conditions during summer season 2011 at Horticulture Instructional Farm, Department of Horticulture, C. P. College of Agriculture, S. D. Agricultural University, Sardarkrushinagar, Gujarat. The results showed that the minimum number (6.55 days) of days taken for germination of seeds while maximum length of main creeper at 90 DAS (354.50 cm), number of leaves per vine at 90 DAS (365.68) and number of branches per vine at 60 DAS (8.00) was recorded with variety Arka Manik. Whereas variety Sugar Baby was found significantly superior with minimum numbers of days (42.95 days) taken for initiation of first female flower on node number (6.55) and 32.25 days taken for fruit set to edible maturity and maximum per cent of fruit set (30.16 %). The maximum number of male flower was recorded with GP- 42 i.e. 188.63 while maximum number of female flower (10.50) as well as minimum sex ratio (female: male) was recorded with Arka Manik i.e. 1:8.73.
