ABSTRACT
On farm trials of coriander were conducted during five consecutive years 2005-06 to 2009-10 at farmer's field of Chambal command area of Kota and Bundi districts under operational research programme (ORP) operated by Agricultural Research Station, Kota to evaluate improved water management technology for improving the water productivity and sustainability of coriander crop. Two treatments were tested at 18 locations and comprised of improved water management technology (i.e. two irrigations, first at full branching and second at capsule initiation stages) by border strip (6 m x 50 m) method using 80 per cent cut off ratio compared with farmer's practice i.e. flood irrigation method. Data pooled over five year revealed that improved water management technology gave higher and sustainable yield of coriander as compared to farmers practice. The mean yield recorded (1366 kg/ha) which was 11.0 percent higher as compared to farmers practice (1232 kg/ha). Pooled sustainability yield index (0.868) and sustainability value index (0.550) in test block was found 6.2 and 12.2 per cent higher as compared to control block, respectively. Improved water management technology posses higher water expense efficiency (62.1kg/ha-cm), net water productivity (13.2 up `/m3) and incremental benefit cost ratio (5.9) over farmers practice.
