ABSTRACT
A field experiment was conducted to evaluate eight isabgol (Plantago ovata Forsk.) genotypes for growth, yield and quality parameters during 2014-15 at Department of Medicinal and Aromatic Crops, Horticultural College & Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. Various growth characters were recorded at monthly intervals at 30, 60, 90 DAS. Among the eight genotypes of isabgol, higher germination percentage (80.66 per cent) was recorded in DPO-14. The genotype DPO-1 produced taller plants (29.66 cm), more number of leaves (114.00), leaf area per plant (1302.83 cm2) and leaf area index (2.89) at 90 DAS. The genotype DPO-186 (36.66 days) was early flowering type. The genotype DPO-174 recorded higher dry matter accumulation (52.80 q/ha), longer spike length (7.58 cm), increased number of spikes per plant (67.75) and higher number of seeds per spike (59.47). DPO-174 also registered higher unhusked seed yield (1032.60 kg/ha) and husk yield (421.82 kg/ha). The highest test weight (3.36 g) and harvest index (19.63 per cent) were observed in DPO-174.
