ABSTRACT
Bacterial wilt disease of tomato caused by Ralstonia solanacearum is one of the most devastating diseases in tomato growing regions. Breeding for bacterial wilt resistance needs resistant genotypes availability. With this objective 24 tomato genotypes including 19 tomato exotic lines received from AVRDC, Taiwan and five commercial varieties Pusa Ruby, DMT2, Megha, Arka Vikas and Vaibhav were screened for bacterial wilt disease. These genotypes were screened against the bacterial inoculums isolated from several locations of Karnataka state. Among 24 genotypes, two genotypes CLN2768A and CLN2777H were found to be highly resistant to bacterial wilt, whereas genotypes Pusa ruby, PT4722A, CLN2026M and CLN2123E were highly susceptible.
