ABSTRACT
Front Line Demonstration (FLD) of Tapioca (Manihot esculenta Crantz.) among the farmers of Thiruvarur district in Cauvery Delta Zone of Tamil Nadu, India, was conducted by ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University during 2016-17. Ten farmers fields were selected for front line demonstration and two cultivars of Cassava i.e. “YTP 1” and “local variety” were used. The demonstration was conducted during the April, 2016 to March, 2017. The results of front line demonstration revealed that YTP 1 and local variety produced a yield of 415.5 and 365.2 q/ha, respectively. The average income of improved variety YTP 1 was 13.8 % higher as compared to local cultivar. Net return and Cost : benefit ratio of YTP and local cultivar were ` 51,100 and 2.6 and 33,736 and 2.1, respectively. Overall, the results of this experiments put forward that front line demonstration (FLDs) on farmer's field has the prospective for in knowledge of the farmer as well as showed high level of satisfactory remarks about technology.
