ABSTRACT
The present studies were undertaken at Sericulture Research Unit, Marathwada Agric. University, Parbhani (Maharashtra) during September-October 2005 in a Randomized Block Design with twelve treatments replicated thrice. Disease free laying of silkworm hybrid race PM x CSR2 were used as a test race against twelve different varieties viz., V-1, Kanva-2, S-54, S-36, S-30, BER-1, T6, BER-779, P 16, Mizosava, A-1, S-34 in the present investigation. Studies revealed that weight of 10 matured larvae varied in the range of 36.95 g to 40.78 g. Variety V1 (40.78 g) was observed significantly superior among tested varieties, which was followed by Kanva 2 (39.83 g), S 30 (37.86 g), S 34 (37.75 g) and BER 1 (37.72 g). V 1 and Kanva 2 were at par with each other. Lowest larval weight was recorded in larvae fed on leaves of S 54 (36.95 g) variety of mulberry.
