ABSTRACT
An experiment was carried out entitled on genetic divergence analysis of locally collected genotypes of pointed gourd (Trichosanthes dioica Roxb.) in Chhattisgarh region at Research-cum-Instructional farm, Department of Horticulture, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur (C.G.) during the summer-kharif seasons of 2014-15. The experiment was comprised of fourteen genotypes of pointed gourd and laid out in Randomized Block Design with three replications. The maximum intra- cluster distance was observed in cluster II. The maximum inter-cluster distance was observed between cluster I and IV. The higher inter-cluster distance indicated greater genetic divergence between the genotypes of those cluster. Group constellation showed that cluster II (IPG-IV, IPG-V, IPG-VI, IPG-VII, IPG-VIII, IPG-IX, IPG-X and IPG-XI) were highly divergent from all other genotypes, which can be utilized in future breeding programme to obtain better combination with segregantes.
