ABSTRACT
One thousand F2 progeny from the cross BG 102/Rashmi (F1) Commercial Pvt. hybrid were randomly tagged out of which 192 plants were selected and divided into four groups viz., high selection indices, low selection indices, high yielder, and low yielder so as to create 5 % selection intensity in each group. High GCV and PCV have been observed in HSI and LSI for all studied characters existence of wide spectrum of variability for this trait and offer greater opportunities for desired trait through phenotypic selection. HSI and LSI selection methods may be effective for early generation selection while in rest of the traits shown high h2 coupled with low to moderate GA was recorded the expression of gene may be influence due to genotypic as well environmental effect. In Ist date of DS, forth method of selection (LSI), for DFF exhibited positive and significant correlation with PH, PPP, GPP and Tw were recorded positive and significant correlation with GYP plant comprising its high and positive direct effect. Indicating that under normal DS condition in Ist date of planting under forth (LSI) method of selection for DFF may be considered as a important trait for improving the yield potential of rice. In 2nd date of DS, forth (LSI) method of selection for LSI, DFF, PH and GPP had sown positive and significant correlation with GYP plant having its high and positive direct effect. Under LSI selection method in late sown DS, DFF, PH and GPP may be considered as an important character during course of selection for enhancing the yield of rice.
