ABSTRACT
The experiment was conducted in three locations of Eastern dry zone of Karnataka during late kharif, 2005 using 46 genotypes of sesame to study genetic variability parameters viz., Phenotypic coefficient of variability(PCV), Genotypic coefficient of variability(GCV), heritability (h2) and Genetic advance percent over mean(GAM),correlation and path analysis. The results revealed that PCV,GCV, h2 and GAM was high for plant height up to first branching, number of capsules per plant and seed yield per plant in all three locations. Correlation and path coefficient and path analysis revealed that days to maturity and number of capsules per plant are positively correlated with seed yield per plant which have direct effect on yield. Based on above studies the characters days to maturity. Plant height upto first branching, number of capsules per plant and seed yield per plant could be selected for improving yield in sesame.
