ABSTRACT
An experiment was conducted on genetic variability, heritability and correlation studies in the fifteen genotypes of Ivy gourd during 2018-19 at the Research Field of Department of Horticulture, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences, Prayagraj. The observations were recorded on various yield and yield contributing characters. The results from the present investigation revealed that on the basis of performance of 15 genotypes of Ivy gourd, Tenali local (455.50) and Sulabha-1 (22.5) genotypes was found superior in terms of yield (kg/ha) and fruit weight large amount of variability existed in the genotypes for selection. Significant differences were recorded for all the characters like qualitative and quantitative character. The highest PCV and GCV were recorded for no. of primary branches/ plant. The heritability estimates were found to be high (more than 60%). The genotypic correlation coefficient analysis of fruit weight (g) showed positive significant association with fruit length (0.3504*), leaf length (cm) (0.3304*), leaf width (cm) (0.3479*), no. of fruits /plant (1.9044*), tss (0brix) (0.6679*), ascorbic acid (0.6679*), specific gravity (0.361*) and internodal length (cm) (0.361*). The phenotypic correlation coefficient analysis of fruit weight showed positive significant association with fruit length (cm) (0.335*), leaf length (cm) (0.320*), leaf width (cm) (0.336*), specific gravity (0.418*) and internodal length (cm) (0.343*). Clustering pattern indicated that cluster I is largest cluster comprising 10 out of twelve genotype. Highest contribution in manifestation of genetic divergence was exhibited by internodal length (cm), ascorbic acid, leaf width (cm), No. of primary branches/plant, DAS first female flowering, petiole length (cm) and yield (kg/ha).
