ABSTRACT
Forty five cotton hybrids were evaluated during kharif 2013-14 over three locations viz., Reginoal Agricutural Research Station, Lam Farm, Guntur; Agricultural Research Station, Jangamaheswarapuram and Agricultural Research Station, Darsi of Andhra Pradesh, India to study the stability of hybrids using Eberhart aand Russel model (1966) for seed cotton yield and quality traits like 2.5% span length, bundle strength, uniformity ratio, fiber elongation ratio and micronaire. Analysis of variance revealed significant differences due to genotypes and environment linear for all the characters. All the characters recorded stable hybrids over environments except for 2.5 % span length. Seven hybrids, BBGH-3 x BBGH-26, BBGH - 3 x GHL - 8, BBGH-3 x BGH - 94, BBGH - 26 x BGH 94, BBGH - 33 x BBGH - 1, BBGH -1 x BGH - 94 and BL - 7 x BGH -23, were found to be stable across environments for seed cotton yield per plant and various quality traits indicating their exploitation for commercial cultivation after thorough testing over locations.
Key words :
