ABSTRACT
The present study was conducted at Commercial Fruit Nursery Unit, Dr. PDKV, Akola during 2009-10 with view to study the effect of different soaking treatments and to find out suitable seed treatment for higher germination and growth of seedlings. Marking nut seeds were give ten different treatments for various period of time viz., control, soaking in hot water 80o c for 30 minutes, tap water for 24 hours, conc. H2SO4 for 5,10,15 and 20 minutes, cow dung slurry for 24 hours, KNO3 2%and 4% for 24 hours with three replication. The seed treated with conc. H2SO4 for 20 minutes prior to sowing germinated earlier with maximum germination and survival percentage. Growth parameters like height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf area, root length, root to shoot ratio, fresh and dry weight of seedling significantly maximum in seed treated with H2SO4 for 20 minutes.
