ABSTRACT
An attempt was made to study the knowledge of growers about the production technology and Good Agricultural Practices of medicinal plants in year2014-15 in Haryana which was first effort in the state. The study was conducted on 30 medicinal plant growers of Bhiwani, Hisar and Mahendergarh districts of South West Zone of Haryana state were included. The result indicated that 50.3 percent growers had correct knowledge while rest of them i.e. 28.7 percent had either incorrect knowledge or 20.8 percent do not know about the production technologies of medicinal plant. In terms of specific cultivation practices correct knowledge about weeding was possessed by all the growers while it was 85.5 percent regarding irrigation, 60.8 for sowing and transplanting and 56.6 percent correct knowledge about harvesting. Regarding rest of the practices like recommended soil and site, selection of planting material, manure and fertilizer , plant protection ,primary processing and storage, packaging and government schemes less han 50 percent knowledge of growers was correct which indicated that the growers lacked more than 50 percent knowledge about these seven aspects.
