ABSTRACT
The study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of pond-based aquaponics by growing two food types (tilapia and lettuce) at the College of Fisheries, Central Luzon State University, Munoz, Nueva Ecija, Philippines during the months of May-June 2018. Results showed that growth and yield of tilapia was not affected by the integration of lettuce. This reveals that maximizing product efficiency requires the combination of three nutrients input source, where addition of complete fertilizer can boost the natural food production for fish growth. However, lettuce growth was affected by tilapia wherein root biomass was reduced by feeding. In this manner, a modification on the aquaponics system securing the root system of lettuce must be improve in order not to be damaged by fish population.
