ABSTRACT
Field experiment was conducted during rabi 2005 at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore to find out the effect of non monetary and monetary inputs on the growth and yield of chickpea. Two varieties viz., CO3 and ICCV 2, three times of sowing viz., 26.10.2005, 2.11.2005 and 17.11.2005 and three management factors viz., farmer's practice, recommended fertilizers and recommended fertilizers and need based plant protection measures constituting eighteen treatments were replicated thrice. The results revealed that sowing on 2nd November was beneficial in terms of growth and grain yield. Desi Co 3 gave better yield than Kabuli ICCV 2. Fertilizer application gave additional net returns of 14.7 percent. Fertilizer in combination with need based plant protection measures promoted yield and gave 60 percent additional profit over farmer's practice.
