ABSTRACT
A field experiment was conducted at the College Farm, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari (Gujarat) during the summer and kharif seasons of 2018 and 2019 to study the residual effect of integrated nutrient management treatments imposed in preceding green gram on succeeding rice crop. The soil of the experimental field was clayey in texture, low in organic carbon content (0.41%) and available nitrogen (199.86 kg/ha), medium in available phosphorus (39.43 kg/ha), high in available potassium (302.88kg/ha) and slightly alkaline in reaction (pH 7.9).The treatments in summer green gram consisted of absolute control (T1),100% RDF(20:40:0) (T2),100% RDF + biocompost @ 5t/ha (T3),100% RDF + biocompost @ 5t/ha + PSB @ 2.5l/ha (T4), 50% RDF + biocompost @ 2.5 t/ha (T5) and 50% RDF + biocompost @ 2.5t/ha + PSB @ 2.5l/ha (T6).These treatments were replicated four times in randomized block design. In succeeding kharif season, each main plot was splitted into three sub-plots for rice with treatments consisting of varying fertility levels viz. 100 % RDF (F1), 75 % RDF (F2) and 50 % RDF + residue incorporation (F3), resulting in a total of eighteen treatment combinations replicated four times in split plot design. Treatments T4, T3 and T6 showed significant improvement in growth and yield attributes, yields and nutrient uptake (NPK) in rice. Among the three fertility levels directly applied in rice, crop fertilized either with 100 or 75% RDF (F1 and F2) performed equally good and were found significantly superior to F3 for majority of the growth and yield parameters, yields and nutrient uptake.
