ABSTRACT
Twenty four CGMS based hybrids of pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.] along with four checks viz., Asha, Maruti, LRG 41 and BDN 711 were evaluated in kharif, 2015 in Randomized complete block design to calculate the magnitude of standard heterosis and extent of fertility restoration among them. The results revealed that high standard heterosis i.e. over 50% was recorded in traits like number of pods per plant, pod weight per plant and grain yield per plant. ICPH 3762 and ICPH 4502 recorded high per se performance and high standard heterosis for seed yield per plant and majority of other yield attributes when compared with other 22 hybrids. Also fifteen out of 24 hybrids recorded high (>80 %) pollen fertility i.e. showed better fertility restoration. And out of 13 male lines, nine lines showed fertility restoration of more than 80%.
