ABSTRACT
Fifteen F1 crosses along with eight parents (five lines and three testers) were evaluated during kharif, 2011 to study heterosis for late leafspot resistance, yield and yield components in groundnut. Manifestation of heterosis was of higher order for number of secondary branches per plant, number of leaves at harvest, number of mature pods per plat, plant height and harvest index for realization of heterosis for pod yield. The maximum heterosis over better parent for pod yield per plant was observed to be 72.39 % and that of best pure line and mid parent was found to be 44.18 % and 98.64 % respectively. Six potential heterotic cross combinations viz., TG-47 x ICG-15234, ICGV-91114 x ICG-15234, TPT-4 x ICG-15234, TCGS-913 x GPBD-4, TCGS-888 x ICG-13919 and TCGS-888 x GPBD-4 were identified as promising for pod yield and late leafspot resistance characters.
