ABSTRACT
Identification of parental lines/hybrid and determination of genetic purity represents an important objective for seed certification and for the control of seed in trade, assure the quality to farmers. With the objective of identifying informative SSR markers for rice hybrid KRH-4 a set of 54 SSR primers were used. Fifteen SSR primers RM206, RM276, RM202, RM204, RM263, RM216, RM219, RM6844, RM1385, RM228, RM6696, RM21 RM209, RM7279, and RM336 were polymorphic. RM21 and RM1385 can be used as unique markers when compared to other public bred hybrids to determine the genetic purity of seed lots of KRH-4. Hence, it is proposed that SSR markers can be used as an effective tool in hybrid seed purity analysis since this technique is simple to use, more accurate and not affected by environment when compared with conventional Grow out Test.
