Meena R. L., Jat B. L. and Gupta J. K. 2021. Impact of Frontline demonstration on white grub (Holotrichia consanguinea Bl.) management in groundnut. Green Farming Vol. 12 (1&2): Jan.-Feb. & March-April 2021

ABSTRACT
Among the different insect pests of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) white grub is major pest causes heavy losses in production. Gap between the farmer's practices and recommended technologies of groundnut in Dausa district of Rajasthan in case of variety was partial. In plant protection measures, seed rate and fertilizers doses were also not as per recommendations. The experiment results indicated plant mortality, white grub population after 45 and 60 days after sowing indicated that seed treatment with Clothianidin 50 WDG @ 2.0 g/kg was effective with 6.1 and 5.70 per cent plant mortality in Front line demonstration (FLD) in comparison to farmer`s practice, it was 17.7 and 21.85 per cent mortality during kharif 2013 and kharif 2014 in 45 and 60 days after sowing, respectively. White grub population in FLD was less which was 0.55 and 0.70 grubs in m2 area in comparison to farmers practices it was 5.08 and 6.05 per square meter area during kharif 2013 and 2014 in 45 and 60 days after sowing, respectively. Front line demonstrations play a vital role in boosting up the yield of crops. The average yield in demonstration 18.4 q/ha and 16.9 q/ha while in farmers practice field it was 15.2 q/ha and 12.4 q/ha and per cent increase was 21.05 and 36.29 per cent in kharif 2013 and 2014 respectively. Front line demonstrations shows in respect of per cent increase of yield B: C ratio and additional net return (27.89 %, 3:57 and 17928) on the basis of pooled data is sufficient for increasing production of groundnut and increasing living standard of farmer community of Dausa district.
