ABSTRACT
A laboratory experiment was conducted in two steps, first screening of varieties with respect to plasma treatment in which performance of two different varieties HD- 2967 and DPW-621-50 was tested along with different time duration of pressure plasmas and in second experiment effect of water stress on nanochitosan as well as atmospheric radio frequency plasma was evaluated at Nanotechnology lab of Pantnagar under the influence of germinator in controlled condition of 21?C temperature during kharif 2017-18. Among all the treatments, HD- 2967 variety at 6 minute plasma seed treatment found significantly higher germination percentage, root length, shoot length, root dry weight and shoot dry weight which was at par with nanochitosan @ 50 ppm treated seeds but in 50% water deficit condition plasma treated seeds at 4 minute had performed better which was statistically at par with nanochitosan @ 50 ppm treated seeds.
