ABSTRACT
A field experiment was conducted at crop research farm, Department of Agronomy, Allahabad School of Agriculture, Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agricultural, Technology & Sciences, Allahabad (U. P). It is on the near of the river Yamuna to study the effect of cultural method and potassium levels on growth, yield and quality of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) during rabi season at 2014. It was consisting of combination of two cultural method (single row and paired row) and four levels of potassium (25, 30, 35 and 40 kg potassium ha-1). The field experiment was laid out in Randomized block design with three replications. The results showed under treatment T7 (paired row + 35 kg potassium ha-1) the maximum plant height (50.77 cm at 50 DAS), plant dry weight (1.67, 3.66, 8.83, 11.31g hill-1 at 50, 65,80 and 95 DAS), crop growth rate (0.79, 9.97, and 34.47 g m-2 day-1 at 21-35, 36-50 and 66-80 DAS), respectively. The significantly higher yield and yield attributes under the treatment T7 (paired row + 35 kg potassium ha-1) with biological yield (14.50 t ha-1), test weight (42.13 g) grain (3.52 t ha-1) and straw yield (10.94 t ha-1), respectively than other application of cultural method and potassium levels treatments. However under that treatment T7 (paired row + 35 kg potassium ha-1) the highest harvest index (24.48 %).
