ABSTRACT
A field experiment was carried out during kharif, 2008 at Agricultural College Farm, Raichur to study the performance of rice varieties to different planting methods under aerobic method of rice cultivation. The results revealed that among varieties, MAS 26 recorded significantly higher grain yield (39.78 q ha-1) and straw yield (49.78 q ha-1), but it was on par with that of MAS 946-1 and both treatments are superior over other varieties. Among the methods of planting, sowing of sprouted seeds produced significantly higher grain yield (39.78 q ha-1). Significantly higher growth parameters viz., Number of leaves plant-1, leaf area, total dry matter accumulation, number of panicles plant-1, number of grains panicle-1, was observed in MAS 26. Variety Sonamasuri recorded higher net returns (` 23,377 ha-1) and B:C ratio (1.65). Among the methods of planting higher net returns (` 22,326 ha-1) and B:C ratio (1.7) were recorded with sprouted seed sowing.
