ABSTRACT
Field experiment was conducted at Anbil Dharmalingam Agricultural College and Research Institute, Trichy from August 2009 to January 2010 with a view to study the efficiency of amendments under two methods of rice establishment techniques in sodic soil. The experiment was laid out in F.R.B. Design with four replications using TRY1 (135-140 days duration) as the test crop in calcareous non-saline sodic soil. The treatments comprised of two methods of planting viz., System of Rice Intensification (SRI), Conventional planting and four amendments application viz., Distillery spentwash @ 5 lakh lit ha-1, Gypsum @ 50% GR+ Daincha @ 6.25% t ha-1, Gypsum @ 25%GR + Distillery spentwash @ 2.5 lakh lit ha-1, Distillery spentwash @ 2.5 lakh lit + Gypsum @25%GR+ Daincha @ 6.25 t ha-1and absolute control. The results of the post harvest soil analysis indicated that a remarkable increase in the EC, available N,P,K, exchangeable K, Ca, Mg with a simultaneous reduction in pH and exchangeable Na in the distillery spentwash @2.5 lakh lit + Gypsum @25%GR+Daincha @6.25 t ha-1 treated soils over the control in both method of planting.
