ABSTRACT
The present studies were conducted at the experimental farm of Horticulture Research Station, Kandaghat, Dr Y S Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan during 2011 and 2012. The influence of integrated nutrient management on fruit yield and quality of plum was studied. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with eight treatments and three replications comprising of inorganic fertilizers (urea, SSP and MOP), FYM, vermicompost, biofertilizers and green manures in different combinations. Among all the treatments, treatment T5 (75% NPK + Biofertilizers (60 g each/tree basin) + green manuring (sunhemp @ 25 g seeds/tree basin) performed best for soil N and P content, shoot growth and tree height, fruit yield and most of the fruit quality characters including fruit weight and size. The maximum soil K content, trunk girth, fruit TSS, total sugars and minimum titratable acidity were obtained with the treatment T7 (50% NPK + biofertilizers (60g each/tree basin) + green manuring (sunhemp @ 25 g seeds/tree basin) + FYM (40 kg) + vermicompost (11.5 kg), rated as second best treatment. Hence, treatment T5 viz., 75% NPK + biofertilizers (60 g each/tree basin) + Green manuring (sunhemp @ 25 g seeds/tree basin) was the best for enhancing the soil nutrient status, tree growth, yield and quality of plum.
