ABSTRACT
An experiment was conducted during 2013-14, to study the effect of long-term use of organic manure and inorganic fertilizers on carbon pools of soils at RARS Lam, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. Incorporation of organic and inorganic fertilizers gave significantly higher carbon pools (Active 426 µg g-1, Microbial 264 µg g-1 and Organic carbon 0.61%) than the control. The application of 150% RD of NPK increased the carbon contents over that of 100% RD of NPK treatment. Continuous addition of inorganic fertilizers to the crop results a decrease in soil pH.
Key words :
Carbon pools (Active carbon, Organic carbon) Microbial biomass carbon, FYM, Mineralizable carbon, Vertisol.
