ABSTRACT
The present investigation on the influence of organic carbon, photosynthetic bacteria and inorganic fertilizer on growth and leaf nutrients of non bearing 2 years old litchi (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) plant. cv. Purvi was carried out at the Horticulture Research Farm, Department of Horticulture, Naini Agricultural Institute, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Science, Prayagraj (U.P.) in the year 2017-18. The experiment was conducted in Randomized Block Design having 9 treatments in 3 replications. On the basis of results obtained, the treatment T4 (Biochar - 200 g plant-1 , PSB - 50 ml plant-1, Nitrogen - 200 g plant-1, Phosphorus 50g plant-1 and Potash - 100 g plant-1) was found to be the best in terms of maximum plant height (91.09 cm), plant canopy (34.49 cm), maximum stem diameter (2.58 cm), maximum number of leaves per plant (316.73), maximum Leaf area (cm2) 34.77 cm2, maximum chlorophyll content (mg/g of tissue) 59.54 the minimum was recorded in T0 control. Hencewe can recommend that the application of Biochar and Photosynthetic bacteria is a promising approach to increase the growth and development of litchi plant. Application of organic carbon and photosynthetic bacteria indicated to have better impact on physical, chemical and biological properties of soils.
