ABSTRACT
A field study was conducted during summer season of 2008 at college farm, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari to study the influence of organic fertilizer and different levels of sulphur on growth, yield and quality of clusterbean (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba L. Taub) for vegetable purpose. Three levels of organic fertilizer and three levels of sulphur were tried. Among organic fertilizers, Biocompost @ 5 t ha-1 registered significantly higher plant height (145.58 cm), dry matter production (65.95 g plant-1), green pod (5325 kg ha-1), straw (3137 kg ha-1) yields, protein content (20.30 %) and protein yield (188.68 kg ha-1) over control. Similarly sulphur levels also recorded significant effect in increasing all these growth, yield and quality parameters. Sulphur @ 50 kg ha-1 registered higher plant height (152.32 cm), dry matter production (67.17 g plant-1), green pod (6071 kg ha-1), straw yields (3344 kg ha-1), protein content (21.23 %) and protein yield (208.51 kg ha-1) as compared to all other treatments.
Key words :
Biocompost, clusterbean, Cyamopsis tetragonoloba, green pod, protein content, protein yield, straw yield, sulphur.
