ABSTRACT
The present investigation was undertaken to study the storage behavior of six cultivars of mango as influenced by packaging in polyethylene bag and cartons stored under ambient temperature (22.8 to 27.30C and 70 to 75% RH). The shelf life ranged between 12 to 20 days depending upon the cultivars. Alphanso, Neelgoa and Neelum had a shelf life of 20 days, whereas Dashehari and Malgoa had a shelf life of 16 days and least shelf life was observed in Pairi (12 days). TSS content in all the varieties increased whereas acidity and ascorbic acid content decreased during the storage period of 20 days. Maximum TSS, sugar and vitamin c contents were recorded in Alphanso followed by Dashehari and Malgoa and minimum in Pairi after 16 days of storage of fruits.
