ABSTRACT
A field experiment was conducted in rabi seasons of two successive years (2012 and 2013) to find out the suitable dose of vermicompost (VC) to obtain high yield and net returns in garlic (Allium sativum). The experiment consisted of seven treatments with varying doses of vermicompost along with the RDF. Pooled means of two years result indicated that, the treatment supplied with 100 per cent RDN through vermicompost recorded the highest plant height, number of leaves, leaf length, leaf breadth, collar diameter, fresh weight and dry weight of plant at 90 days after sowing. The same treatment also recorded the highest yield of 7.67 t per ha. However it was on par with treatment receiving 100 per cent RDN through vermicompost given in 2 split doses as compared to rest of the treatments. The B:C ratio, available nutrient status of soil also recorded maximum in the treatment supplied with 100 per cent RDN through vermicompost.
