ABSTRACT
The present study was aimed to evaluate the effect of different levels of vermicompost, urea and Azotobacter on growth, yield and quality of strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) cv. Sweet Charlie. Individual and combined application of vermicompost, urea and Azotobacter were applied at 100 q/ha, 100 kg/hac and 30 ml/litre water, respectively. Maximum height of the plant (13.39 cm), plant spreading (29.57 cm), leaf length (6.13 cm), leaf width (4.90 cm), leaf area (50.34 cm2) and number of flowers (18.93) were found in treatment 15. Similarly, fruit width (4.63 cm), fruit length (5.83 cm), fruit weight (37.05 g), fruit volume (36.03 ml), fruit yield plant-1 (318.83 g) and fruit yield plot-1 (11.01 kg) were also observed in T15. The maximum T.S.S. (10.29 0B), Vitamin-C (72.27 mg/100 gm.), reducing sugar (4.60%) and total sugars (5.55%), TSS:acid ratio, firmness and juice (%) were found in T15 whereas, total sugars:acid ratio was observed in T16. Maximum titratable acidity was recorded in control (0.76 %). Conclusively, T15 (vermicompost 50%+Azotobacter 25%+urea 25%) was found most effective to improve growth, yield & quality of strawberry cv. Sweet Charlie.
