ABSTRACT
A field experiment was conducted on weed management in groundnut in Randomised Block Design with three replications and ten treatments to assess the impact of weed control practices on growth and yield of groundnut. Pre-emergence application of pendimethalin @ 1000 g a.i. ha-1 fb imazethapyr @ 75 g a.i. ha-1 followed by 1 inter cultivation at 35 DAS recorded significantly maximum weed–control efficiency (87.67 %) and weed-control index (12.37 %) with a pod yield of (21.81 q ha-1) and haulm yield of (24.96 q ha-1). Weed population and dry matter production of weeds were effectively suppressed with pre-emergence application of pendimethalin @ 1000 g a.i. ha-1 followed by imazethapyr @ 75 g a.i. ha-1 fb 1 inter cultivation at 35 DAS and resulted in maximum B:C of 3.17. From this study it was concluded that the different weed species were very effectively controlled by applying pendimethalin (38.7% CS) @ 1000 g a.i. ha-1 fb imazethapyr (10% SL) @ 75 g a.i. ha-1 fb 1 inter cultivation at 35 DAS for the effective weed control and to obtain better pod yield and B:C.
