ABSTRACT
A field experiment was carried out during December, 2017 to March, 2018 at Anbil Dharmalingam Agricultural College & Research Institute, Tiruchirapalli. The field experiment consists of seven treatments which include control, AM fungi alone, glyphosate 12 ml L-1 alone, AM fungi plus different rates of glyphosate at 6, 12, 18 and 24 ml L-1. The treatments were allotted randomly in the field following RBD. It was evident that higher doses of glyphosate at 24 ml L-1 plus AM fungi reduced the bhendi germination and caused phytotoxicity symptoms in both weeds and plant. However the AM fungi alone increased the weeds population and dry weight. The sedge was significantly controlled by the application of AM fungi plus glyphosate 24 ml L-1. The application of AM fungi combined with different rates of glyphosate increased the weed control efficiency. The root and shoot efficiencies of the bhendi plant in higher dose of glyphosate applied plots were drastically affected. The fruit yield was higher in glyphosate alone 12 ml L-1, AM fungi alone, AM fungi + glyphosate 6 ml L-1 applied treatments. Positive and significant correlation of bhendi fruit yield was observed with the root formation and leaf formation.
