ABSTRACT
An effort was made at Organic farm, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari in rabi 2011-12 to intercropping in banana under organic farming. The banana + garlic with 100% RDN (T5) showed significantly higher values of yield attributes, yield and banana equivalent yield. The quality parameters i.e., total sugar, reducing sugar and non-reducing sugar of banana were significantly affected due to intercropping and organic manures. Treatment T5 banana + garlic (100% RDN) gave superior quality parameters. It revealed that the N, P and K content 3.2, 0.26 and 2.6 % and uptake 299.6, 24.8 and 244.2 kg ha-1 by banana leaves were maximum under sole banana treatment. Minimum total crop duration was observed under T5 treatment. Economic assessment of the intercropping system indicated that banana + garlic with 100 % RDN was most profitable system under organic farming, which recorded higher net realization ` 6,42,545 ha-1, while benefit cost ratio (3.45) was maximum under banana + onion with 50% RDN.
