ABSTRACT
The four single cross and three double cross F4 progenies along with five commercial checks were evaluated during kharif 2008 to identify superior segregants. Analysis of superior segregants for important metric traits revealed that more number of segregants were released from double cross population BH-16 followed by single cross population BH-13. More number of segregants was released in BH-16, followed by BH- 15 (double cross progenies) and BH-13 (single cross). Among single crosses, F4 progeny in BH-13 the plant no. 26-3 was the high yielding with 510.66 g per plant, which was tall plant type with short internodal length having 5 branches. Similarly in BH-16 of the double cross F4 progeny, the plant no 58-3 possess three branches, medium internodal length with high fruit yielding capacity of 629.22 g per plant with fruit weight of 16.20 g. These desirable recombinants could be utilized as pure line or in hybridization programme to develop superior hybrids.
Key words :
