ABSTRACT
Groundnut planter is an animal drawn implement suitable for sowing groundnut, cotton, maize, sorghum and bengalgram. It consists of separate hoppers for seed and fertilizer. Inclined plate type metering mechanism is used for seeds and hence able to maintain plant to pant spacing. Agitator type metering mechanism is used for fertilizers. The drive to metering mechanism is through ground wheel and chain and sprocket mechanism. It can accommodate three shoe type furrow openers and row to row spacing can be adjusted as per the need of the crop. The average seed rate obtained during the calibration test was 100.5 kg/ha also the fertilizer rate obtained in the calibration test for the different settings i.e. 5, 10, 15 and 20 mm will be obtained 142.21, 205.40, 306.10 and 413.67 kg/ha for the Di – ammonium phosphate and average percentage damage was found to be 2.15% which is negligible .It saves the valuable seeds. Use of this machine also results in 20 % increase in yield.
