ABSTRACT
The study was conducted in Bhilwara district of Rajasthan to find out the major constraints faced by maize growers in adoption of improve cultivation practices of maize. 160 maize growers were selected randomly, who were participated in ATMA training programme on maize crop from four panchayat samities of district. From each panchayat samity two village were selected randomly and from each village ten beneficiary and non-beneficiary farmers were also selected randomly. The data were collected by personally interviewing the respondents and analysed statistically. The study revealed that majority of maize growers in both categories faced the major constraints toward adoption of improved cultivation practices of maize viz, non-availability of fertilizer input at peak season, non-availability of improved seed in required quantity, lack of knowledge about plant protection measures, inputs are costly, long dry spell, high fluctuation in market prices, lack of transports, storage facility and mal practices of merchants in the mandies. The study further highlighted that in overall economical constraints were the main constraints followed by ecological and inputs supply.
