ABSTRACT
Maize (Zea mays L.) is one of the most important cereal crops with wide adaptability under different agro-climatic conditions in Sikkim. It has a high nitrogen requirement and high yields of maize make a heavy drain on soil nutrients. Wherever possible, it is advisable to have soils routinely analyzed in order to know the characteristics of the soils and get advice on ways to improve soil fertility and/or correct soil pH for optimum maize production. The crop being exhaustive in nature requires balanced supply of all the essential plant nutrients for proper growth, development and yield.
