ABSTRACT
Long-term fertilizer experiments were commenced from 2006-07 at V.N. Marathwada Agric. University, Parbhani, Maharashtra on Vertisol (Typic Haplustert). The present investigation was done after completion of seven rotations of soybean-safflower sequence (2012-13) to evaluate its effect on soil availability and uptake of secondary and micronutrients by soybean and safflower. The findings showed that the nutrient availability in soil, nutrient uptake and yield of both soybean and safflower were significantly influenced by various treatments. The grain (25.63 and 17.20 q ha-1) and straw (26.97 and 44.09 q ha-1) yield of soybean and safflower were significantly increased with 100% NPK+FYM@ 5 Mg ha-1 as compare to other treatments. Applying optimal dose of fertilizer along with organic manure also improved the micronutrient availability (Zn, Fe, Mn, Cu & B) as compare to other treatments. However, a significant buildup of available Zn due the supply of zinc sulphate along with 100% NPK was noticed. The maximum content and uptake of Zn, Fe, Mn, Cu and B by soybean was observed with the application of 100% NPK+FYM@ 5 Mg ha-1 over 100% NPK alone. It can be concluded from the experiment that the balanced use of fertilizers continuously either alone or in combination with organic manure is necessary for sustaining soil fertility and productivity of crops.
